Finding Joy as Life Moves Forward
This is the season of new chapters. This time of year many of us will be entering new phases of life. Some through graduation, others through marriage, even business promotions will take place.
These moments are exciting and can bring a sense of hope that’s hard to match. It makes me want to pause and appreciate just how much energy and anticipation can fill this season of change.
There’s something eye-catching about watching people around me take on new adventures and step into a fresh part of their lives.
It can be scary because the unknown is around the corner. There may be that Job that will bring about some sort of stress. That marriage is bound to have its rocky patches, and that business promotion will add more work on your plate. Where much is given much more is required.
Whenever you reach the next step in life, try to remember that these transitions are necessary. They’re reasons to celebrate, and they shape the stories to be told for years.
Each new chapter gives us a chance to learn what happiness really means now, instead of just relying on what worked before. Sometimes, these milestones gives us a push to check out new perspectives or think on what’s truly fulfilling. assisting in outlook adjustment.
In these moments, I realize it’s important to find joy in the next chapter.
How I’ve Learned to Find Small Joys
The thing that helps me most is looking for small reasons to be grateful. Sometimes I wake up and realize the sun is shining or my morning coffee is piping hot just how I like.
Noticing little things like this helps take the pressure off “big” happiness, especially when it’s hard to feel joyful in a major way.
A genuine smile from a stranger or the comfort of listening to a favorite song can also have a positive effect. These tiny moments can set the tone for my day.
I also give myself permission not to feel great all the time. Life moves in ups and downs, and forcing myself to always feel happy only leads to disappointment.
I try to accept whatever each day brings and find moments of contentment, even if they’re small. I focus on giving a boost to my mindset by checking in with myself, grabbing my fishing poles and letting whatever I feel just be. If I need a mental break, this is the best way for me to get one.
Making Room for Both Good and Hard Times
In my experience, every season serves its purpose. The hard days make the joyful ones stand out even more. I try to remember that life comes with all sorts of experiences, not just the ones that feel easy.
Welcoming these changes, whatever they look like, helps me stay grounded and open to new joy. Sometimes, it’s about letting go of what I expected and finding something new to appreciate, even if it’s a lesson learned during difficult times.
Even when things aren’t perfect, I remind myself that this chapter is still worth living. Every part of the adventure—both the ups and the downs—gives me something to grow from. For me, staying open to joy, no matter what kind of day I’m having, always feels worthwhile.
In closing I want to leave you with this. The mix of challenges and good moments that make my story unique. If I keep an open mind, I can stumble upon joy even in unexpected places, making every stage of life richer and more meaningful.
Hey,
Finding joy in life is very important for all of us. But the way we do it is so different for every single person.
How you have described the way to do it will definitely help us, but it is up to us to put into practice what gives us joy, which sometimes might take work at first. It’s just are we up for putting in that work?
I know I am willing to put the work in.
Thank you for sharing and all the best to you,
Tom
Yes! Action is needed for joy to bloom.
Every season serves a purpose is so true. Through every season I have grown, and it has made me the person I am today. It’s hard sometimes when you’re going through a difficult time, but looking back it often makes much more sense.
The unknown can be scary, but some of my greatest lessons and growth have come from those uncertain seasons. I’ve learned to trust that each chapter has a purpose and to be grateful for the small joys along the way.
Thank you for this wonderful reminder.
That was inspiring to read how your trusting that purpose will present itself in each chapter. Being grateful for those small wins need to understood!
